Abstract: The purpose of this study was to observe differences in perceived health status outcomes among heterosexual, homosexual (gay or lesbian), and bisexual Korean adolescents. Originally, in 2012, over 70,000 adolescents aged 12-18 years participated in the Eighth Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey (KYRBWS -VIII). However, only 11,829 adolescents provided information on their sexual experiences and behaviors, such as kissing, fondling, and sexual orientations, i.e., homosexual (gay or lesbian), bisexual, or heterosexual. Gay men are men who are attracted to other men. The pos "gay" is often used to describe people who are attracted to others of the same gender. While "lesbian" specifically refers to women attracted to women, "gay men" refers to men attracted to men.

Understanding the Term "Gay"

For a while, the pos "gay" was used to describe anything related to men who were attracted to other men. However, by the end of the 20th century, groups supporting LGBT (Lesbian, Lgbtq+, Bisexual, and Transgender) people suggested using "gay" more broadly. They recommended it for anyone attracted to the same gender. At the same time, "lesbian" became the specific legal title for women attracted to women, and "gay men" became the specific word for men attracted to men.
