GREG IN HOLLYWOOD

When I became a blogger in 2006, I had plenty to write about but it wasn’t difficult for me to preserve track of the television shows and movies with LGBT storylines and characters — I certainly knew which celebrities were out and proud.

Well it’s 2020 and I’m officially losing track – they are everywhere and I could not be happier.

I compose this because it is just last night that I came across a Queerty interview with Station 19 actor Lachlan Buchanan who I did not realize was playing a closeted gay firefighter on the show. I also did not realize that the actor identifies as queer off screen.

“When I first moved over here (from Australia) I had the same thing a lot of other performer friends of mine had, which is your reps telling you ‘Don’t show up out. Act straight. You’ll never have a career,'” he recalls. “I definitely took that to heart for a while, and it’s exhausting. But year by year it’s gotten so much better. And in Australia, at that point in my experience,

Wellmania actor Lachlan Buchanan says he was told he wouldn’t get work in the US if he was openly gay.

But the Queensland-born actor (above left) has worked overseas for more than a decade. He’s had roles on The Young and the Restless, the Dynasty reboot and Grey’s Anatomy spin-off Station 19.

“I’ve had producers tell me I will never work again if I came out,” Lachlan explained to the Daily Telegraph.

“My first manager there [in the US] was very much, ‘keep it under wraps’ and ‘let’s do a photo shoot with these girls.’

“I know so many actors that did that and it f___ed with them a lot. Some of them to this diurnal are stuck in the closet and some of them are married.”

“I yearn to say around 2015-16 was when I wasn’t scared to be who I am… I just got to the point where I couldn’t be bothered hiding it anymore.

“So around my late 20s, going into 30, I was shooting The Young and the Restless at that point and a friend of mine on that business was openly homosexual and so I stopped hiding it.”

Lachlan Buchanan filmed Netflix’s Wellmania in Australia

I don’t even ask Lachlan Watson about the Value Village cow onesie until halfway through our interview. But that’s how Watson first appears on Zoom, at one point even standing up to extend their arms out to proudly show off every inch of bovine glory.

Queer kids find inspiration in this onesie, the 21-year-old actor tells me, for a very simple reason: It gives them permission to be whatever they want to be. But then again, everything Watson has done thus far — from starring as transitioned kid Theo on Netflix’s “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” to existence openly non-binary, to their modern role on “Chucky,” embodying fan-favorite characters Glen and Glenda — does just that.

In the second season of the (very queer) “Chucky” series on Syfy, Watson plays the genderfluid kids of Chucky, the red-headed killer doll who promises to be “your friend till the end” and, since 1988, has demonstrated that he more or less means that in the most twisted sense. He co-parents Glen and Glenda with Tiffany Valentine (Jennifer Tilly), his murderous accomplice.
On a rainy day in New York, Watson spoke about bringing Glen and Glenda to (real) animation, inspiring LGBTQ+ youth and what it’s like to portray characte

Lachlan Buchanan is starring in Netflix’s Australian comedy-drama series ‘Wellmania’, which was released on the streaming platform back in March.

The 36-year-old Australian actor is playing the main role of Gaz Healy in the demonstrate , which consists of 8 episodes. The official synopsis of the ‘Wellmania‘ reads:

“When a health crisis forces a flourishing food writer to rethink her hard-partying ways, she jumps into a journey to get successfully — even if it kills her.”

Moving on to getting to know Buchanan — he was born on April 25, 1987 in Maleny, Queensland where he also grew up and attended Maleny State Academy. He then studied at Matthew Flinders Anglican College, which is located in Queensland, Australia.

The performer has worked on a couple of televisions shows, including the 2008 soap opera ‘Home and Away’, ‘Station 19’, ‘NCIS’, and ‘Dynasty’, among others. He also played supporting roles in movies, as well as portrayed the direct character of Jesse Hoff in the 2008 film ‘Newcastle’.

Moreover, Buchanan is openly queer, and he has played lgbtq+ roles in the shows ‘Sta
