There's nothing unexpected about Chuck being jealous of Carter, really. Idiotic, sure, but not unexpected. However the publicly lewd invitation with women on both arms hits differently when someone who knows Nate is gay is next to him. He tries to keep calm, tries not to touch his cheeks heat with embarrassment, but Chuck gives a petty retort and it's all Nate can do to stop from giving more than a glare and making a scene.

There's compel behind the way Carter delivers his advice at first, before he sees Nate's face and softens. Carter is easy like that, serious and joking all in one. Nate has to admit it's much nicer to be able to be real and unseal with someone at a bar instead of hungover in a crowded bedroom.

Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) is a relatively trivial character in the novels by Cecily von Ziegesar and one of the main characters of the show Gossip Girl .

In the novels, Chuck is disliked my many of the characters, but tolerated because of his family's wealth and status. He is known for his deep voice, extravagant fashion, and many flings with both men and women.

The show turned him into a main character who started out as a villain, but soon became an antihero. He maintains his extravagant style and has many sexual encounters in the show, but they are more focused on women. He does seduce and kiss a man as part of a sex game that he plays with his girlfriend Blair (Leighton Meester). When Blair asks how he feels about kissing a gentleman, Chuck responds, "Do you think I’ve never kissed a guy before?".

HBO has announced a relaunch of the popular CW show. The release date has been postponed due to Covid-19, but we hope to see a more openly bi Chuck Bass sometime in 2021.
