Beard definition gay

Straight woman with lgbtq+ man = beard, so...

If a straight girl with a gay bloke is a beard, what do you call a straight guy with a lesbian?

Hard up.

…Is she “butch” or “lipstick”?

I was under the impression that a beard was a male friend covering for the fact that you have a mistress. By taking her out and being seen with her no one is the wiser to who is dillying whose dally.

Of course I’ve been wrong twice before…

In my experience it’d be rare to listen someone refer to a straight woman out with a gay man as a beard. Fag-hag maybe - awful expression!

Monkeymensch is right I think. The beard is the “cover” to confuse observers. Benign of the way a chaperone is supposed to ensure that everyone’s reputations stay spotless.

None of the above have worked since 1960.

According to this Glossary of Sayings, Slang, Signs and Symbols for Same-sex attracted Men, I think the answer to the scrutinize in the OP would be “a beard”.

The sad reality of many bearded relationships

Season 2 of Made in Heaven, created by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, addresses relevant quixotic relationship issues faced in our community in each of its 7 episodes. In episode 2 there is a brief, yet not-so-subtle reference to an issue that exists but is not spoken about enough in society.

Karan (played by Arjun Mathur), one of the main characters, is gay. His mother is on her death bed and claims Karan’s sexual orientation is the reason for her reaching there. In this episode, Karan is asked by his masi (aunt) to marry a girl to appease his estranged mother and fulfill her wish to observe him married before she loses her battle to cancer.

When he responds by saying that he can’t get married to a lady because he is gay, she counters it by saying that she is his “type”, and that and he should adjust for the sake of his dying mother, so that she can rest in peace.

I am glad Karan refused. But many succumb to this pressure. In well-liked parlance, such a relationship or marriage would be called a “bearded” one. A beard is someone who marries (or d

Women pay in ‘bearded’ relationships

One definition of the word beard is found mostly in slang dictionaries, though the Novel Oxford Dictionary of English added the alternative definition a few years ago.

A beard is defined as a chick who dates, or marries, a male lover man to provide cover for the man’s homosexuality. The term also applies to a guy who does the same for a lesbian woman. Current chatter at ABC.com is filled with beard comments concerning Tom Cruise’s recent lady love. Cruise has long denied he is male lover, but the rumors persist that Cruise dates and marries beautiful women, these so-called beards, to quash speculation about his sexual orientation.

A subtext to the Jim West story is the proof that West, who acknowledges he is a gay gentleman, has also dated women, and married one. I realize some of these women. I haven’t talked to them about this, and I don’t aim to. It’s none of my business.

But it has stirred for me this whole business of the “beard phenomenon” and the damage it does to women who take for granted the role of beard (unwittingly or not), the men who seek it out, and our society that colludes in the deception, rather th

Yep, the devil made you do it.

Thanks for helping to clear up what a beard is. And just to make sure I have it straight (hahaha), a beard knows that they are a beard...correct? They know the deal and that they are participating in the disguise. Am I right on that? A person who doesnt know would not be a beard? Am I making any sense? And a "hag" (hoping not to offend, just want clarification) wouldn't necessarily be a beard right? Dont comprehend why I am needing to know all this, its just bugging me that I can't make it all out.

Oh, about what was edited by Rick.......I just wanted to let you know that I went it to work and couldn't linger to tell everyone. I told them about what I learned here, and let me just say, that there are quite a few eyes that were opened wide. We had some good laughs about merkins all day long. Very unprofessional I know, but hey, its friday. Thanks for helping us to have an enjoyable TGIF.
